We love this beautiful area with beautiful beaches and hiking opportunities.
Sirolo
You can go in different directions in Sirolo. You can opt for Spiaggia Urbani, which is the beach at the bottom of the town. There is a small car park near the beach, but it is usually full. The higher, slightly larger car park is also often full early on. In and around the town there are signs directing you to the Parcheggio Urbani. From there, you can take the bus to the beach or walk to the beach along a footpath through a residential area and the woods with (sometimes steep) steps. This route is not convenient with prams, for example. On this beach, you can rent umbrellas and beds at Balneare Da Peppe or Balneare Da Arturo. Be on time. In the Italian holiday around 15 August (Ferragsto), it is very crowded. There are also small stretches of free beach. Lunch at La Paranza is highly recommended. Go especially for the anti-pasti misti (a tasting of mixed fish starters).
Is Spiaggia Urbani very crowded or do you want something more rugged? Then follow the signs towards the Spiaggia Sassi Neri car park. There you can choose several buses to the beach. At the top, buy your return bus ticket at the ticket machine. Walking is also possible, of course, but can be challenging in some places. On the beach there are several beach bars, which rent umbrellas and beds. There are also patches of free beach. At the beach bars you can have a simple lunch: they have ice creams, sandwiches, salads, drinks and good coffee. If you go early, you can choose to have breakfast on the beach like an Italian with a cappuccino and a cornetto (sweet croissant). From Sassi Neri beach, a boat sails to the famous Due Sorelle.
Portonovo
Portonovo beach is a beautiful bay. If it is not very busy, you can park near the beach. There are already signs at the top of the road to the beach, indicating whether there is space "downstairs". If the car park at the beach is full, park in the large car park near the roundabout. It is paid parking and the shuttle bus, which goes regularly, is free.
It is a pebble beach with large pebbles. Water shoes are handy. You can rent a boat on the beach. For more information, visit www.gommone.it.
Lunch at Il Molo ("The Pier" next to the pier) is highly recommended. You can also hire parasols and beds there. You can conveniently do this online in advance here, as well as reserve your lunch table. Then you know immediately whether you have a place. You can also dine at Marcello's.
In Portonovo you will also find Clandestino, susci bar, a brother of Aniko' from Senigallia. Check out www.morenocedroni.it.
Numana
Numana's beach is flatter and more accessible. At the port, you can rent a boat.
Porto Recanati
A little further south is Porto Recanati. It is a more mundane, lively place with lots of beach bars, terraces, restaurants and shops. If you go for dinner in Porto Recanati, you seem to have to be at La Rotonda.
Note that dogs are almost nowhere allowed on the beach. Some beaches are sandy and there are many pebble beaches. Sometimes it's a mix.
